Hey there ๐,
Think of your favourite storyteller.
Who came to mind?
Tarantino? Swift? Atwood? Your dad*? (*Mildly NSFW)
Stories are so fundamental across human culture they’re part of everything we do – music, books, movies, speeches, the news, the list goes on.
Now think of your own storytelling; do you need to be doing more or less?
Being able to tell a story can be a powerful tool – for inspiration, for influence, and for empathy.
If your storytelling needs some work, there’s lots of expert guidance available ranging from coaches, to resources online, or check out your local Toastmasters.

Cautionary Tales with Tim Harford
DANGER: Rocks Ahead!
Why it’s worthwhile: Harford is a master of storytelling. His high-production value podcasts are a treat – in this episode he delves in to the Torry Canyon disaster and gives real insight into the lessons to be learned from this disaster, couched in artful story.
“Inertia is a powerful thing. That’s true for an oil tanker the size of Torry Canyon, which needed nearly five minutes to make a ninety-degree turn, during which time it would travel a mile and a half at cruising speed. But inertia is a powerful thing for humans too. We also sometimes struggle to change course. Psychologists have identified a strong bias towards the status quo.”
